I had a couple of aunt's in their 70s who used to sit indoors and moan about having "nothing to do and nowhere to go every day".
I must have listened to this conversation for years and it was just like listening to an old record. Being the polite nephew that I am I never used to say anything, but listen politely to everything they said.
Well I can never understand why anyone in their more mature years grumbles about having nothing to do or nowhere to go because you only have to open your eyes (or your phone book) to discover that all across Essex there are organisations and groups for everyone, nonemoreso than the Pitsea Centre at the rear of Pitsea Market.
If you can't find anything to do here then I suggest you go and visit my grumbling aunt's and you will all get on like a house on fire.
The Pitsea Activity Centre for over 50s has aerobics, snooker (men and ladies), bowls, salsa dancing, line dancing, sugarcraft, pottery, yoga, hula hoops (not the one's you eat), art, quilting, handicrafts, belly dancing, bingo, ceramic painting, glass painting, and flower arranging. I'm breathless just telling you about everything that's happening there.
Costs have increased to £52 a year for members and £78 for a year those outside the borough
But here can you spend a morning or afternoon enjoying yourself and maybe talking to friends or making new one's as cheaply as that. Got to be better than the bargain's you find on the market stalls.
That's another thing, Wednesday is market day at Pitsea so you could spend a couple of hours browsing the market stalls, a couple of hours doing painting or dancing and an hour or so having a cup of tea with friends and if you're anything like me, you've had a great day out.
Oh yes, I nearly forgot, you can also have lunch while you're there and if you've got a 'date' why not have your hair done as well.
There are also activities like yoga and belly dancing that will help keep you fit as well.
If you want to find out the times of all the activities at Pitsea Activity Centre give them a call on 01268 465432, but don't leave it too long because you could be missing out on something that could transform your life.
