Home Library Service
Don’t stop using the library just because you can’t get to it. New members are always welcome for the Home Library Service. The Home Library Service visits those people who can’t get to their local library because of age, disability or caring responsibilities. It brings books and DVDs from the library straight to your home for you to enjoy.
Your local library runs a Home Library Service with the help of the local community. These volunteers make pre-arranged call the home of library members who can’t reach a library building or a mobile library. The Home Library Service tries to take the library to the customer as far as possible. So, as well as books, including Large Print, Home Library Service customers can borrow audio books, music or DVDs free of charge. Our volunteers chat with customers, offer recommendations and take any requests back to the library.
ome Library Service customers can also use the telephone enquiry service Answers Direct for any information they need.
Friends, relatives or neighbours can also collect library items. A Friends and Family library ticket can easily be arranged.
