Rob, boss of StranDNA Limited, has invented a unique security device called Chain Reaction DNA and if someone tries to break into your home they face a double shock.
First they will be deafended by an ear-piercing alarm that will alert neighbours and passerts-by and secondly they will be left feeling distinctly blue, literally, because they will be sprayed with a forensic dye.
And although the dye is invisible to the naked eye, offenders, when picked up by police, will be detected by ultra-violet lighting in custody areas or by the use of ultra-violet torches.
What's more, the address where Chain Reaction security devices are fitted is also given a unique tag and the dye is matched to the exact location to which the device was installed and registered, clearly placing the blue-faced individual at the scene of a crime.
This unique early warning system was developed in the United Kingdom over a two year period aided by ERA Security Products and the police believe it has such potential it has received Secured by Design approval – the official police security certificate.
Warning stickers are supplied and installed at the front and back of the protected property will discourage illegal entry. If the warning is not heeded though and the device is activiated and an arrest is made, a forensic science laboratory is able to analyze the stain and can detect the DNA component present.
“Chain Reaction has been specifically designed to ease the fear associated with doorstep crimes,” said Rob.
“It assists the police in the detection and apprehension of intruders by using the latest in DNA trace technology and provides the Crown Prosecution Service with irrefutable scientific evidence.
“The majority of residential burglaries in the UK are through an external door and sometimes thieves resort to far more extreme methods to steal property without the house alarm being activated or to gain access to vehicle keys so to start without the alarm, immobilizer and tracking system being activated.
“Put simply, once a home owner has opened the door, the caller uses force to gain unlawful entry or they may force illegal entry through a locked door.
“We believe Chain Reaction DNA eases the fear associated with doorstep crimes which are unfortunately occurring more often and will be giving the homeowner greater piece of mind when answering a call.
“They will be confident that any attempt by the caller togain unlawful entry will be met with a hi-tech proactive response. The strong evidential nature of this security system will reduce illegal intrusion and increase detection rates.
“We also believe the application of this device can work two fold. From a homeowners perspective it eases the fear associated with doorstep crime but at the same time it will increase the fear of the individuals who perpetrate such criminal offences of getting caught and convicted.”
There were more than 100,000 motor vehicle crimes in London and car crime remains a worrying statistic despite the increase in sophisticated security systems now installed by the manufacturers.
So why are cars still getting stolen?
Robert Simpson believes the answer lies within the statistics for household burglaries. “The vast majority of vehicles on our roads today have the most advanced security measures available so we no longer live in a world where you can force entry into the vehicle, hotwire the car and drive off,” said Robert.
“Burglars now force entry into your home to steal the ignition keys – along with wallets, jewellery, laptops and your television – and before you know it your expensive family car is gone, possibly heading for buyers abroad.”
The certainty of being sprayed with a UV based identifiable forensic marker will be seen by today’s criminals as the ultimate deterrent because when they activate this unique door security device its embedded forensic trace technology links them to their crime scenes and can aid in the prosecution of offenders in a court of law.
Best of all Chain Reaction DNA costs just £99 plus installation and forensic registration charge and no monthly service charges, but it must be fitted by an approved installer.
